UMass Chan flags the MassBay director to address the state’s lack of nursing care

Commonwealth Medicine, the consulting and operations department at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, has hired Andrea Bresnahan as executive director of the Nursing Council on Workforce Sustainability, part of a nationwide initiative centered around tackling the shortage of nurses in the state.

Bresnahan, who holds a Ph.D. in advanced nursing practice, most recently served as Nursing Director at MassBay Community College in Wellesley.

NCWS was created by the Massachusetts Healthcare Collaborative Nursing Task Force with the state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, according to the announcement.

Commonwealth Medicine will lead NCWS with the goal of bringing together stakeholders from across Massachusetts with a focus on creating a diverse and robust nationwide nursing force.
