Pembroke / Silver Lake gymnastics wins Patriot League

KINGSTON – The Pembroke / Silver Lake gymnastics team has dominated the Patriot League all season long on the way to a 12-0 dual meet record. The dominance continued Saturday as Pember / Lake cruised to a team win at the Patriot League championship.

Pembroke / Silver Lake's Ava Dorsey won the vault, beam, and the floor exercise at Saturday's Patriot League championship.

Competing in their own home gym, Pembroke / Silver Lake won the team title with an overall score of 138.15. That was just the beginning of the winning for the local squad.

Senior Captain Ava Dorsey won the vault and the floor exercise individual events. Mackenzie Mackinaw won the bars and Lauren Canniff won the beam and picked up enough points in all of the events to defeat Plymouth’s Brooke Reardon for the all-around championship. Canniff had 35.00 points on the day and Reardon took second with 34.90. Mackinaw finished fifth in the all-around with 34.20 points.

Pembroke / Silver Lake's Lauren Canniff won the Patriot League title in the beam event with a score of 8.90.

Floor Exercise – Sam Raleigh 8.0; Mackenzie Mackinaw 8.5; Lauren Canniff 8.9; Ava Dorsey 9.10.

Beam – Julia Hawley: 8.55; Sam Raleigh: 8.6; Brooke Bonwitt: 8.45; Lauren Canniff: 8.9.

Bars – Sam Raleigh: 8.4; Ava Dorsey: 8.5; Lauren Canniff: 8.3; Kenzie Mackinaw: 8.55.

Vault – Summer Holmes: 8.4; Ava Dorsey: 9.3; Lauren Canniff: 8.9; Kenzie Mackinaw: 8.8.

The Patriot League All-Star selections and other awards were also announced Saturday. Named as all-stars were Kenzie Mackinaw (all-around), Ava Dorsey (vault), and Brooke Bonwitt (beam). Riley Doyle won the Sportsmanship Award and Lauren Canniff received the Scholar-Athlete Award.
