Manchester United Beaten To The World’s Most Loved Sports Team Title

Manchester United fans have always strongly argued that they are the biggest team in world football, but a study by Betsperts says otherwise.

Despite their on field issues after yet another bitterly disappointing season for the Old Trafford club, their support and following off the pitch haven’t dropped off.

They are hugely known around the world and most people on the planet will have heard of Manchester United, there are no doubts about that.

However, according to the study by Betsperts, they are only the second most loved sports team in the world, with Spanish champions Real Madrid beating United to the number one spot.

European football teams dominated the top ten, only NBA side Golden State Warriors managing to creep into the top ten.

The list was compiled by Betsperts, they undertook a global investigation to see which teams were searched the most on Google, across every country in the world. European football once again proved their dominance over other sports as they dominated the list.

53 countries searched Real Madrid more than any other sports team in the world, United came in at a close second, with 50 countries backing the Red Devils. Barcelona were way off the top two, with 23 countries securing third place for the Catalan club.

The fact that NBA side Golden State Warriors have Stephen Curry in their ranks would have for sure helped their rise in global following as they finished in tenth place, topping the searches in three countries.

United will be disappointed to finish in second place as they have always believed that they are the biggest club in the world, but the recent on field struggles may have played a part in the team losing out to Real Madrid.

The Old Trafford club will be hoping that the appointment of Erik ten Hag can start turning things round on the pitch. United endured an awful season both in domestic and European competitions, falling well short of the high expectations by the club’s fan base. United ended the season with 58 points, the worst points tally since the Premier League records began.
