Man ‘seen holding machete’ during early morning argument in Coseley street


A man was reportedly spotted brandishing a machete during an argument in a Black Country street, police have said. Concerned locals called 999, but the men had left the scene by the time cops arrived.

Witnesses described four men arguing in Avenue Road, Coseley, just after 6am this morning (April 23). Officers say that one of the men is thought to have had a machete.

They are now scouring CCTV and phone footage in an effort to determine exactly what happened. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police told BlackCountryLive: “We’re investigating after four men were seen arguing in Avenue Road, Coseley, early on Saturday (April 23).

“One of the men had what was described to us as a machete. Officers were immediately sent following the 999 call at 6.09am, but the men had already driven off.

“We’ve spoken to witnesses and have CCTV and phone footage.” They added: “If you saw what happened, message us via Live Chat on our website west-midlands.police.uk. quoting 662-230422.
