London borough appoints interim chief

Newham LBC has appointed Colin Ansell as interim chief executive, following the departure of Althea Loderick.

Ms Loderick joined Southark LBC this month, having run Newham since 2019.

This week the council agreed that Mr Ansell would become interim chief executive while recruitment for a permanent successor takes place.

Mr Ansell has worked for Newham since 2009, and was most recently corporate director of adults and health.

In a LinkedIn post he said: “It’s an absolute honour and privilege to have been approved as the interim chief executive at Newham. This is such a special place with so many talented people and I can not wait to get started working with our staff, Mayor, members, residents and partner!”

He is expected to be in post as interim for up to nine months.
