West Ham United have shown ‘there is spending power’ at the London Stadium and could look to bring in a ‘sexy signing’ during the upcoming transfer window, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
The departed Sebastien Haller remains the Hammers’ club-record signing, having forked out £45million for his services, but it seems owners David Sullivan and David Gold could offer boss David Moyes a budget which would allow him to surpass that figure.
Who have West Ham been linked with?
Reliable West Ham source ExWHUemployee has revealed Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Armando Broja, who has just returned to Chelsea following a season-long loan with Southampton, are among Moyes’ targets ahead of the summer.
It appears the Hammers are looking to take advantage of the free agent market as well, with them being in pole position to sign outgoing Arsenal frontman Eddie Nketiah and making ‘initial enquiries’ with Jesse Lingard’s representatives ahead of his Manchester United contract expiring.
The east Londoners have also stepped up their bid to sign Watford winger Emmanuel Dennis after holding talks with his agent.
It seems Moyes wants to strengthen his options in the heart of the midfield, with Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips and Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse on the Scotsman’s radar.
Additionally, West Ham are continuing to hold talks with Rennes over a deal for central defender Nayef Aguerd and it is understood that a fee is close to being agreed.

What has Ryan Taylor said about the situation?
Taylor believes West Ham are in a position to splash the cash during the summer transfer window, which opens next month.
When asked whether Nketiah and Broja are the calibre of players Moyes will be targeting, the journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “100 per cent. I think Moyes is someone who likes Premier League proven players or certainly players accustomed to English football.
“Obviously, we saw Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen come from the Championship, but if you look at Lingard’s impact at the club and Kurt Zouma, these are players that know the league inside out.
“But West Ham are partial to a sexy signing as well, like Pablo Fornals. They like to bring in a continental player and I think West Ham are going to have money to spend this summer, I really do.
“Obviously, they made a club-record bid for Darwin Nunez in January and they made an offer for Luis Diaz as well, Moyes revealed, but it just shows there is spending power there.”
Why are West Ham looking to splash the cash?
West Ham are set to compete in next term’s Europa Conference League after finishing the campaign seventh in the Premier League standings.
Michail Antonio also remains the only senior striker at the club, so Moyes will need to add reinforcements during the summer.
