Axia Women's Health opens South Jersey walk-in care clinic for women – Philadelphia Business Journal – The Business Journals

Axia Women’s Health has opened what it describes as South Jersey’s first walk-in health care clinic completely dedicated to women.
Called AccessNow, the clinic in Sewell, Gloucester County, is offering comprehensive OB/GYN care that includes treating urgent health care needs like urinary tract infections, treating sexually transmitted infections and providing pregnancy testing, on-site ultrasounds, mammography, and contraception counseling.
Axia’s goal in establishing the clinic is to address two of the most common barriers to care for women: access and cost. AccessNow is accepting most insurances including Medicaid and is open weekends, evenings, and via walk-in appointments.
“We want to break down those barriers,” said Dr. Leisa O’Flynn, vice president of medical affairs at Axia Women’s Health. “We’re trying to make things more affordable, more convenient and create a one-stop shop. Women have had to go to a lot of different care centers to get the same amount of care [that the clinic provides]. We recognize that their time is limited too.”
O’Flynn said AccessNow’s weekend and night hours are important because women that need to see a physician after regular office hours often have no choice but to go to an urgent care center or hospital emergency room where they incur higher copayments.
AccessNow has a staff of six care providers led by a medical director who is joined by a group of nurse practitioners and nurse midwives.
The clinic had a soft opening in late March and an official grand opening last week. Patient volume has grown to an average of 10 to 20 patients a day, with nights and weekends being the busiest times.
“Our aim is to get to 40 patients a day in the weeks ahead,” O’Flynn said.
O’Flynn said the Sewell location was picked because it is central to many of its South Jersey medical practices, which include office sites in Cherry Hill, Voorhees and Mullica Hill.
Founded in 2017, Axia has dual headquarters in Voorhees and Oaks, Pennsylvania. The independent medical practice has 400 doctors and 150 practice sites in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio that care for about 700,000 patients.
This area has thousands of people — doctors, scientists, business executives and more — who go to work every day with a mission to make life better for people touched by cancer.
